  A memorial to the 10 men of a USAF B-24D Liberator Bomber ''RUTH-LESS'', who died on 2nd February 1944, after a bombing raid into Europe. Having receiving damage from enemy attack the aircraft crashed into high ground in low cloud as the crew desperately attempted to reach the emergency airfield at Friston. The memorial marks the spot the aircraft struck the ground, just 30 feet from the highest point and tragically just a few miles from the safety of the airfield.
